We all know that crafts are a very fun way of learning. Christian crafts for kids are a great way to bring Bible stories to life, to educate and entertain, and to develop your child’s love of the Bible. Some of the most

popular Bible stories lend themselves very easily to kid craft projects.

Easy kid arts and crafts:

There is no shortage of free craft ideas for kids to be found on the Internet. Here are a couple of kid crafts to start you off:

Egg men – kids love to paint empty eggshells. Next time you are baking, instead of cracking the eggs make a small hole in each end and gently blow the contents of the egg out. Once the egg shells are rinsed, they are ready to be painted with poster paints, or decorated with glue and felt or any other materials you have to hand. Why not suggest that your child makes egg men of his favourite Bible characters?

No Cook Play Clay – this simple recipe is great for all kinds of Bible crafts for kids. Mix one cup of flour with ½ a cup of salt, and then pour in ½ a cup of warm tap water. Mix thoroughly and then knead until smooth, adding food colouring if desired. This mixture will keep for about a week if you store it in a sealed container. This clay is ideal for making little animal figurines for a Noah’s Ark craft. You can simply let them air dry, or if you want them to be really hard then you can bake them in a hot oven for an hour or two, depending on the size.

How to help children learn their Bible with art and craft ideas for kids:

When we make or paint something, we are much more likely to remember it than if we just hear or read it. So doing simple arts and crafts with your kids, relating to Bible verses and stories, is a great idea. To set your mind thinking, I recommend an e-book like “Little Kids Crafts For All Seasons.” Once you have your crafts idea, it is easy to adapt it to suit the bible lesson you want to teach.

Bible Verse Bookmark Art

Talk to your child about some favourite Bible verses. When you find one that he really likes, help him to cut out a bookmark out of white or coloured card, and then write out his Bible verse to make a personal bookmark for himself or as a present.

If your child is too young to write by himself, you can write the verse out for him on his bookmark in pencil, and he can trace over it with colourful marker pens.

Bible Story Telling

This is a fun craft and game, especially if you have several children. It is suitable for all ages.

Cut out a dozen or so pieces of white card, about 4” x 6”. Now everyone gets to choose a few of their favourite Bible stories and either write down a title for the story (“David and Goliath” or “Noah’s Ark” for instance) onto the cards, or for even more fun draw a picture to represent the story.

When all the cards are finished, you shuffle them and take turns drawing a card at random. The person who draws the card gets to either tell the story, or if they prefer to nominate another player to tell the story.

This game is a wonderful way to help children learn their Bible stories, and is fun for the whole family!
