Directions for this easy kids craft: This Creation Story craft has seven parts to it. Each step depicts one of the seven days of God's creation. Day 1: God said, "Let there be Light," and there was light. God called the light "day," and the darkness, "night." Have children get out their dried, paper maché globes. Help them assemble their other decorative materials.
Day 2: God created the sky. The sky will be in place thanks to the paper maché, but the children can add puffy white clouds to the daytime side, using cotton balls or white paint. Day 3: God separated the land from the waters and planted it with trees, grasses and flowers. The blue paper maché background may also serve as water (day and night), and the children can create the land and plants with their paints, markers and/or stickers. Day 4: God made the sun, moon and stars. Again, using paints, markers and/ or stickers children can depict God's creation on their globes. Younger ones may need reminding to add the moon and stars to the nighttime side. Allow children to be creative. Some will want to add smiles to sun, moon and stars, while others will want to go for realism. Day 5: God created the birds and the fish. Children will have fun adding birds and fish, so remind them to leave room for more to come! Fine tip markers and small paintbrushes will help save room while allowing kids to get as detailed as they want. Younger children may prefer using stickers, but remind them their drawings are great.
Day 6: On the sixth day, God created the rest of the animals and made the first people, just like God made you. Children can add other animals now to the land and to the water. Finally, have them get out their photographs and glue them to their globes Day 7: God rested, looked at everything he made, and said it was good. Using hooks and strings hang the globes from the ceiling; low enough children can walk around each one to view their creative expressions of God's good work.
